Supporting Community Music Through Musical Moments: Vicky’s Role in an Accessible Concert

At Musical Moments, we believe in the power of music to uplift, connect, and engage people of all backgrounds and abilities. Our franchisees are not just passionate about music—they are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in their local communities. One inspiring example of this is Vicky, our franchisee, whose work as a trustee for the City of Stoke-on-Trent Symphony Orchestra (CSSO) is helping to bring live music to those who might not otherwise have access to it.

The Connection Between Musical Moments and Community Music

As a Musical Moments franchisee, Vicky already works closely with care homes, additional needs groups, and community organizations, using music to enhance wellbeing and engagement. Her role with the CSSO is a natural extension of this passion, bridging the gap between professional orchestral performances and inclusive, community-focused music experiences.

Since becoming a trustee in January, Vicky has been instrumental in helping the orchestra develop stronger connections within the community, particularly when it comes to delivering relaxed concerts designed for people who may not typically access live classical music.

“I worked with the founder of the orchestra back in 2019 when he was the MD of Oliver! and I played Nancy. They’ve recently gained charity status and are so passionate about becoming a keystone in the cultural makeup of Stoke-on-Trent. I’m hoping my experience with Musical Moments will help develop their connections within the community.”

A Concert That Made a Difference

Recently, the CSSO hosted a special accessible concert, creating a welcoming space for audiences who may not usually have the opportunity to enjoy a live classical performance. Vicky played a key role in ensuring this event reached those who would benefit most.

Among the attendees were some of Vicky's Musical Moments clients, an additional needs group, who absolutely loved the experience, and a care home resident with dementia who had once been a professional classical singer.

“I had an additional needs group attend yesterday and they absolutely loved it! Also, one of my care homes brought a lady with dementia who used to be a professional classical singer… she was the first person that sprung to mind when ‘relaxed concert’ was put forward to me.”

These moments highlight why initiatives like this are so important—music has the power to spark memories, bring joy, and foster deep emotional connections.

Why Community Music Matters

This event demonstrates the strong link between Musical Moments and wider community music initiatives. By using her experience as a franchisee, Vicky is able to support inclusive live music experiences and advocate for more accessible performances in her local area.

By working together, community musicians, orchestras, and organizations like Musical Moments can ensure that music is truly for everyone—whether that means bringing live performances into care homes, adapting concerts for neurodivergent audiences, or simply making classical music feel more welcoming and inclusive.

Looking Ahead

With passionate individuals like Vicky leading the way, the future of inclusive music in Stoke-on-Trent is brighter than ever. As the CSSO continues to expand its outreach, there will be even more opportunities to bring the magic of live orchestral music to care home residents, additional needs groups, and other underserved communities.

We’re incredibly proud of the work our franchisees do, both within Musical Moments and beyond, to make music accessible to all. Thank you to Vicky for her dedication and to the CSSO for their commitment to bringing music to everyone.
